A Different View of Winnipeg
Have you ever seen those covered boats on the Assiniboine or the Red River when you are at The Forks?
Every wonder what they are?
Three years ago my son asked me what they were so we went down to the docks by Muddy Waters and asked. Now it is a yearly tradition we both look forward to.
The Splash Dash Guided River Tour
A great way to spend some time on the water is The Splash Dash Guided River Tour. It also makes for a great part of an afternoon at The Forks. Your captain (Ours was Captain Dan) takes you on a historic tour on both the Assiniboine River and the Red River pointing out historical buildings and giving you some very interesting facts about Winnipeg. For example did you know that you can see the oldest house in Winnipeg? Or that the Forks market was a barn years ago and if you look closely you can still see the stalls in the food court? There are also some beautiful picture opportunities that you would only get from the water.
So if you are looking for something fun to do with the kids head down to The Forks and go for a cruise.
The half hour tour is taken in a very comfortable boat that holds about 12 people. It makes for a very personal tour. Life jackets are mandatory for kids. Adults at your own risk but are on the boat in case of an emergency. All pricing and other information can be found right here. www.splashdash.ca/Tours.htm
